Chiron
According to myth, Chiron was a Centaur from Greek mythology. Being the son of Zeus, he was immortal. When Chiron was beset by a great pain that wouldn't heal (a poisoned arrow tipped with the Hydra's blood) he prayed to the Gods to let him die, and his wish was granted.
Astrologers often refer to Chiron as the Wounded Healer. Where Chiron finds itself in an astrological chart is an indication of important lessons. These may refer to the greatest pain or burden, often endured in childhood, which eventually become the greatest source of healing and wisdom for others.
